April 22, 2018
Due to ongoing conflicts in Palestine, 72% of families were recorded to have food insecurity in 2017. With the upcoming holy month of Ramadhan, WeCare decided to help ease the burden to those in need by providing Iftar Meals to various places in Gaza Strip. Iftari meals were distributed during the whole month of Ramadhan.
WeCare partnered up with an internationally-known NGO, Hayat Yolu Association, to assist us in executing the project in Gaza. Funds were raised locally, and sent through Telegraphic Transfer to Hayat Yolu. An official Iftar4Gaza poster was uploaded on WeCare official Instagram on 22nd April, welcoming the public to take part in the purchase of Iftar Meals. Collecting purchases ended on 7th May 2018.
As what had been agreed upon, Hayat Yolu was to execute the project by searching the appropriate kitchen to cook the Iftari meals, as well as packing and finally distributing them to areas that had been determined by the association.
WeCare was kept in the loop by Hayat Yolu during the implementation process. Photos and videos were provided as evident of the ongoing project. Distribution of meal packs started on 17th May and was completed by 7th June 2018.
BENEFICIARIES OF THE PROJECT
15,860 meal packs were distributed to 8 different areas in Gaza, namely Al Magazy Camp, Gaza, Khanyunus, Al Buraij Camp, Dair Al Balah, Rafah, Jabalya, Al Zawayda.

Even from the start of the project, WeCare received an immense support from the public. The generosity of the public has made this project successful. This is evident through the huge amount of
iftari meals distributed to the people of Gaza. The partnership with Hayat Yolu also made it possible for the execution to take place.
