The occurrence of a 7.7 magnitude earthquake and its aftershocks, tsunami, and subsequent liquefaction and landslides have severely affected Donggala, Palu and central part of Sulawesi.
Wecare initiated emergency relief for those affected by the earthquakes. Wecare have collaborate with PKPU (Indonesia NGO) to execute this project. As per requirement of Indonesian government that any aid from international NGO must be executed through a local NGO.
PKPU was responsible to prepare the foodpacks and hygiene kit (buying of items and packing) along with the distribution of these items. Two wecare members along with two wecare volunteers went to Palu to witness parts of the preparation of items and distributions.
17th October- Arrived at Palu.
18th October – Assessing the affected areas in Palu and Donggala.
19th October – Distribution of Food and hygiene kit.
20th October – Distribution of Food and hygiene kit.
21st October – Travel back to Jakarta.

It is expected that 513 families benefited with foodpacks and the provision of hygiene kit. 42 temporary houses was also build during the recovery phase of Palu.

CONCLUSION
During the visit made by Wecare members to Palu. It was clear what wecare was able to aid was very small portion of what is required by the people affected in Palu. After brief assessment and
discussion with PKPU representative the most needy during the time was identified and given the aid from wecare. Upon leaving Palu distribution are still ongoing. We Care is in close contact with
representative of PKPU for updates on execution of Palu recovery phase aids.
